Workers in the crowd: the labor market impact of the online platform economy

Abstract We compare individuals engaged in online crowdwork against workers traditional occupations from the United States and Europe, investigating determinants of access into crowd employment nature deterioration salary conditions job quality characterizing these markets. do so by matching responses comparable working surveys, controlling for most individual socio-economic characteristics affecting pay. find that differences earnings are largely unexplained ability individuals, labor is vastly under-utilized.
